There are many, many hotels in the Big Apple! If you are planning on coming just for the wedding and related weekend events, then we recommend you pick a hotel in the Long Island City area, for convenience. Here are a few recs:

If you plan on making a New York City weekend out of it and seeing a few sights, shows, etc. then it may be worth looking into hotels in Manhattan or Brooklyn. We are happy to advise on this!
Travel
As you can see by the fancy map we have provided, the venue is in the beautiful NYC borough of Queens! Whether you are flying in from out of town, taking the 7 train, or walking; Uber-ing home at the end of the night or in need of a hotel, we gotchoo!
Airports:
LaGuardia (LGA)
Most convenient! It is best to grab a taxi or ride share from this airport to your hotel (20 min. drive)
John F. Kennedy (JFK)
This airport is a little further away (45 min. drive) but is accessible by public transit
Public Transit:
The venue is a 10 minute walk from Court Square (M, E, 7, G trains)
